Overview
VEX AIM is a ready-to-run coding robot: no structure to build before the first line of code. The onboard camera, AI vision and omnidirectional drive mean 'recognise an object, then act on it' is achievable in lesson one, instead of waiting until pupils have worked through mechanisms and wiring.
What AIM really solves for teachers is time. A forty-minute period minus handing out and packing away leaves very little coding time. Removing the build step puts that time back into algorithms, conditionals and debugging — the parts you actually want to teach. Programming uses VEXcode with both blocks and Python.
It fits AI and computer-vision introduction units, coding clubs, or as a low-friction first taste of the VEX platform.

Frequently asked questions
Is AIM suitable for teaching AI?
As an introduction, yes. Pupils use the onboard vision recognition to build 'if I see this, do that' behaviour, which establishes the concept and the intuition before any discussion of models and data. Courses that need custom-trained models will want an additional platform.
How many pupils per unit?
With no building involved, two or three pupils per robot taking turns to code and test works well. If a coding club wants one each, tell us the headcount and we will quote.
How does school procurement work?
